This event coincides with our Holiday Open House. There will be vendors, sales, treats, a raffle, and of course champagne along with several DIY workshops to create your perfect gift. This class is shorter than our normal classes and will last about an hour long. We will also have two smaller cyanotype workshops during the day as well as a few other surprises.
In this one hour long class you will learn to make your very own needle felted ornament. Needle felting is a creative craft that involves sculpting shapes and figures using wool and special felting needles. This process involves stabbing wool with a special needle. As you repeatedly stab and turn the wool, the needle pulls more wool into itself, and the fibers interlock into felt. With continued stabbing and turning you will form a shape.
Known in German as glücklicher pilz or gluckspilz (which literally means “lucky mushroom”), the red-and-white speckled fungi grow deep in the forest. Its real name is Amanita muscaria or fly agaric, and finding one is thought to be a sign of good luck, similar to the way the Irish view four-leaf clovers. That’s because the roots of this specific mushroom can only grow in the root zones of certain types of trees, which happen to be those we generally think of as Christmas trees. It has been a German tradition for centuries to decorate the pine trees with these dried mushrooms.

This is a mini workshop version of our typical cyanotype classes! This event coincides with our Holiday Open House. There will be vendors, sales, treats, a raffle, and of course champagne along with several DIY workshops to create your perfect gift. This class is shorter than our normal classes and will last about an hour long. We will have two smaller workshops during the day as well as a few other surprises. First class is at 12pm.
Cyanotype is an alternative photographic printing process. It uses two chemicals that when dry create a light sensitive surface. The prints will end up being a beautiful blue color, hence the name CYANotype. Bring in photographs and/or objects you want to use to create your design. We will use the sun to expose the designs, leaving an imprint of your objects or image. Any photograph must be sent to Brooke@clusterfunkstudio.com before the class. I have to print them as a negative on transparency film so please plan ahead.
In this one hour long class you will learn to make your very own cyanotype holiday cards and ceramic ornament. You will be able to practice on a few sheets of paper before making your final design.
The studio always has wine and champagne for free but if you would like other drinks, please bring your own.

Chemicals will stain clothes, so wear something you do not mind getting dirty. We will use gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Join us for our first ever Holiday Open House!
Recently we have been finding ways to enhance community engagement to help our neighbors tap into their own creativity and make art! This started with a series of monthly workshops and has been greatly successful.
As we look to the holiday season, we wanted to get even more festive and are planning a Holiday Open House on December 16 featuring workshops, vendors, food and drink, and a good ole Holiday raffle. The Open House encourages folks to create in the spirit of the holiday and make gifts for their loved ones. Cluster Funk Studio will be hosting a cyanotype ornament and holiday cards workshop as well as a needle felted toadstool ornament workshop. The other vendors will have several pop-up workshops throughout the day including a stocking workshop, a make your own potholder workshop, and a hand stamped clothing workshop. Cluster Funk Studio’s workshops require preregistration online while the other workshops are open to drop ins. We will have 7 vendors including Mini Kitty Designs, Style Verde, Owl’s Nest Handmade, Gab Slattery Art, Bare Body and Skincare, Andi K Art, and Panic in Polkadots. There will be fun events throughout the entire day from 11am to 6pm. We hope this will provide a unique holiday shopping experience in the North Shore.
